Foša Bridge Trogir
The pedestrian bridge occupies a peripheral position in Trogir’s narrow city core. The old wooden bridge will be replaced by a steel shell construction of variable cross-section in a slightly asymmetric hyperbolic paraboloid shape. Gentle direction changes allow for a smaller stair incline, as well as reading different vistas while moving. Given the shipbuilding tradition in Trogir and the surrounding area, the choice of materials and construction utilizes local know-how and achieves a solution that is not an aggressive intervention in the space, but one that simultaneously possesses a clear character and identity.
The solution transcends the role of a utilitarian structure for crossing the sea channel and becomes a social focal point and a place of new urban identity.
